The word Zen comes from the Mahatana Budhism school of thought and emphasizes the value of meditation, self-control and enlightenment. I always line up my mower and cut straight as possible first going down and than back while meditating and practicing self-control. It involves denial of my ego, focus on interconnectedness of the universe, and the recognition that attachment is the source of all suffering. Damn it, missed my fucking line and the realization that human perception is faulty!

I never thought myself as an MC member but upon reaching 50, I lamented missing pieces in my life so joined a brotherhood of bikers to fill the void. Later, upon becoming patched they gave me the club name “Who”. Most MC members have a club name. Great, Not only did I not find myself but I didn't know any of them either- circle! Seems a lot like my earlier life where people came, left and were forgotten. The truth is in the name Joker. The jokes have always been on us and the world laughs!

Have you ever noticed we always try to travel in a straight line from one destination to the next while thinking at some point we will reach the end of our journey or some great reward awaits us? What if what we thought linear was actually circular and once we traveled far enough we again reached the beginning? What if the only prize achieved was a better understanding of ourselves through that journey? What if we were all parts and parcels of God and the journey was never ours but His?

This is my fifth year traveling around to these Comic-con events to observe people. I have had the opportunity to meet both celebrities and cosplayers imitating different roles, escaping worldly reality for a weekend, and being authentic. Then it dawned me, the worlds reality is also made up. When we fulfill our occupational and social obligations for a cause we don't believe in it's then we are acting. Strive to mold your life according to the picture in your head- don't be dissuaded!

I am alone on my Harley with just the headlight to illuminate my way through a canopy of trees and the dangers of the night. Snap, if the light goes out pitch blackness. Whenever we experience a confrontational interaction between two individuals or two nations, it's seldom about the people but more often about their belief systems. Belief systems are based on one’s religion, philosophical ideas, culture, society, interpersonal influences, education, and personal experiences. Sometimes they can change over time. Beliefs impact values and become the definition of truth for either an individual or nation. Sadly, we all to often act on these convictions! PEACE

The weather in Michigan was warm enough to ride my motorcycle last week. Then suddenly it changed and unexpected snow began to fall. Seems like no matter how much I wish there was order in the universe there is only chaos. Whoever the God is out there he is the architect of it. The soul is at the inner core of our being, our ultimate reality and true self. It is the seat of all our memories and imagination but also the seat of our desires and afflictions. We are created in God’s image and are a part and parcel of Him so must learn to act accordingly. Every soul is connected to God and all other beings but not every soul knows this truth. We must learn how to love each other and and the world entrusted to our care. “All I am saying is give peace a chance.”

The difference between being truly alive and lower forms of life is the consumption of energy for conscious development and involves three things: 1) A sense of comprehensibility that one's life makes sense. 2) A sense of core goals, objectives and direction in life or purpose. 3) A sense of knowing life’s value

I forgot to tell you, I seen mom last night. I can’t remember It 100%, but I remember her saying that she loved me, or don’t worry I love you. Mom was mom and we may have had our little differences occasionally, and the way she was looking at me as she was dying has been really bugging me. I wasn’t the perfect son by far ! But mom was always there. I miss mom, and will forever, but I feel A little bit better. Here yet again the message that is communicated every single generation. Hope!

To be a man is more than just proclaiming oneself to be one, making money or handing it over to some woman for nice dresses and stilettos. To be a man involves physical pain, exhaustion and worry. Worrying about things at work, family, paying the bills and in many places of the world simply keeping your family fed. If I ever have the luxury to worry about what another person in this world is doing in order to feel complete, I am probably neglecting my interpretation of what a man should be?

It’s early spring in Northern Michigan and at 12pm the day was sunny, warm and clear. A Joker jumps on his bike with his daughter. The two ride the 20 miles toward Tawas, Michigan beautifully nestled on the sandy shores of Lake Huron. After stopping for lunch the two get back on the bike but now it’s pouring rain leaving them to ride the same 20 miles back home in misery. In life too, sometimes the sun shines on us and sometimes we get poured on. At all times we must be prepared for either.

There was a man that led a broken life, drank to much, used drugs, refused to work and contributed nothing to society. He could be seen around town collecting anything that was free and eventually ended up being completely supported by the government. He used his money for cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. He acted if he hit the lottery. After destroying everything he ever touched he was moved to an assisted care facility where he lived better than before-in the same room with a prominent doctor.

I once new a physician who donated many hours to charitable organizations where he could utilize his surgical skills, donated to charities and because of his commitment to others did not retire until 70. At about 74 I saw him again in an assisted care facility. Despite his previous considerable wealth he was now tattered, broken and disgraced. You see, for him social security didn’t help until he spent all he had. Sad thing is he shared the room with a man who never worked -but treated better.

First, 8 is the the spiritual number of stability, symmetry and balance. Second, in numerology 8 symbolizes the flow of energy between things. Third, it’s sacred since 8 is a manifestation of the principles of time and space. Fourth, 8 represents the infinity symbol or the concept of limitlessness or eternity. Fifth, 8 is known as the illusionist causing us to question everything known. However, for me 8 represents my loyal, consistent followers and my appreciation for believing in me.

A young man just prior to his graduation from high school, decides to visit the county Fair. While there he enters the house of mirrors. He discovers, many mirrors distort his reflection and still others are false representations of the truth that are challenging him to find his way out. Suddenly he realizes, that those that distort his reflection represent the many transitions his life will take. The false representations of truth are the paths he will follow before finding the right one.

Deep thoughts, the ability to reason, contemplate creation about our place in the universe makes us human. No other form of life has this ability to consider these things. When the worlds scriptures say created in Gods image it’s the ability to reason they’re talking about. Unfortunately too much thought cripples us under the weight of anxiety. Anxiety robs us of our mindfulness, creativity and steals our mobility. Seems better to put trust in the universe to naturally make the right decisions.

There was once a teenage girl who desperately wanted a dog so she and her mother visited a breeder to see some dogs they had heard about. One particular little dog from the litter chose the girl and ended up coming home with her and her mother. It’s been four years and Thor has become more than a companion, he is part of the family. He watches over the girl and his family. For us he is the best friend we have ever had. Know one in this dogs family could ever imagine a life without him in it.

Runway is a Joker out of Gaylord, Mi. I remember seeing him around everyone knew he had the heart to be patched. You couldn’t miss him with his purple hair, well that is before his brothers shaved his head, cut off his beard and removed one eye brow. Later, the same week another Joker punched him in his good eye. His name given in jest, because he wore his jeans tighter than the rest. They were so tight he couldn’t even ride his bike. But what he could do is become a loyal and trusted brother.

Gadget is a Joker that rides like the wind, the fastest moving on two wheels. His bike called Ketchup, he has spent unending hours dreaming of ways to make her quicker. It’s a beauty to behold, it’s red and black motif glistening in the sun with him leading the pack. One day at a service station, he moved his bike to the pump like a highly trained gymnast. Getting off his seat, he dumped his beloved bike trapping himself against the pump. Note, when modifying things kickstands have a purpose.

He had been doing Gods work, fighting Satan his whole life and he was weary from little progress. He blamed Satan for taking members out of his church now finally God would vindicate him. God said “It was never Satan, rather your own prejudice and hatred that made the earth dark and the churches empty. Leave heaven now for those that have the capacity to love.”

The homeless woman with two hungry young children stood all day at the traffic light adjacent the church. She was praying that someone would offer her something to feed them. She had no knowledge of whether God built the Universe or not, nor did she care. All she knew was her children needed help. Many passed by her and gave nothing. She thought to herself “where is their God, their Savior Jesus Christ or anyone?” Their God looked down from the cross where he sacrificed and wept a second time

A woman sat in a room and contemplates. Is abortion wrong? Does the unborn child’s existence outweigh my own existence or the issues that will Jeopardize either of us from our human potential? Who’s body is it? It’s my body unless I assume I had no consciousness prior to it’s conception. Did the child have consciousness prior to me or before I was raped. If Murder applies so what, God murders too. Everyone dies if only as a result of time. Quality of life is important and thus, she wept.

The Pastor of a fundamentalist church stared out at his congregation one Sunday morning realizing the parishioners were slowly dropping off. He wondered “have we not made all people welcome? We love the sinner just not the sin. God knows, were offering them opportunity to repent, be saved and be more like us!” Meanwhile, up the street is an elderly facility filled with people in dire spiritual need. Seldom does the body of Christ visit there. Jesus Christ seeing this realized and regretted.

Gator is biker often seen by his brothers as a weathered man, quick to temper but just as quick to stand up for a friend. He has been hardened by the tragedies of life and similar to the Tin man truly desiring to have that which has eluded him-a heart. Late one night on his way home pondering these things he slammed right into the side of a deer requiring a couple of months of recovery. Life always alludes us, fuck the heart, the deer and the Harley he rode in on. With gratitude he smiled!

A man sits in a hospital room looking into the drained and defeated face of his mother who is dying from her third battle with cancer. He remembers what he was taught in seminary so many years ago. That God is all powerful, all knowing and everywhere present. That he is separate from creation, has control over it and does as he chooses. There is nothing in control in this room, no miracles or God with his Divine attributes, just chaos and foreboding. His mother dies all alone in the night.

His brothers call him Who and he rides his bike through the darkness of night. Sometimes driving fast in reckless abandon and other times it’s slower in more deliberate contemplation. As he moves down this highway he remembers another road, it’s twists and turns, it’s unlighted conditions. Who is the traveler, where is the road, what does it lead to does anyone know? He stops at a rest area, looks in the mirror and realizes that all life’s answers are staring back at him there. He is a Joker!
