My name is Alexia, and I am 16 years old. That's the only thing I can remember for now.
I just woke up, and for some reason, I find myself in a strangely unfamiliar place. All the walls are bright white, people dressed in white hurry in all directions, and I occasionally hear their nearby whispers.
I manage to distinguish one of them and ask,
"How long have I been here?"
She looks at me with an unflinching expression and replies,
"It's been a week."
"A week," I repeat in my mind.
Apparently, I've spent a week in this bed, in this place with blinding white walls.
At that moment, a figure stands out in the intensity of the light, and I have trouble recognizing it. Through their voice, I identify my father. However, when I hear his question, I can only shake my head. The truth is, I don't remember anything.
I close my eyes.
I don't know how much time has passed, but it seems I'm back in my house. The feeling of being in a place familiar to me is a relief.
As I go up to my room, I hear a strange noise near my window. Approaching the balcony, I see a paper airplane. Another one follows its path and falls to the ground. I get closer and recognize my neighbor, who smiles at me. I remember that we've talked a few times, but I struggle to recall his name.
Back in my room, I find a necklace on my nightstand, with a small silver flower. I pick it up and take a deep breath.
Finally, I remember his name: Dante.
I close my eyes.
"That day, we spent the afternoon together in the park since both of us were celebrating our birthdays that month.
We did many things, exchanged gifts, shared a meal. I even swung on the swings, something I've always enjoyed since I was little. Then we had a race to the stream.
In the evening, we enjoyed a beautiful fireworks display and talked about the stars and how people's relationships can be like them, always searching for their special star.
At that moment, Dante confessed something that changed everything. He told me I was his special star, that he had been in love with me for a long time but hadn't dared to tell me before. I was stunned and didn't know how to respond; I just tried to convey how important our friendship was to me, even though I didn't share his feelings.
From that day on, things changed between us. We stopped talking as much as before, and at school, we barely looked at each other.
Until one day, he told me he needed to talk to me, and I agreed.
We met at my house.
I ran out with tears in my eyes, not noticing if he followed me.
I ran without stopping, crying non-stop.
And then, I lost track of what happened; I just felt the impact.
Later, I saw many people around me; someone asked if I was alive, but I didn't have the strength to speak or move. "
(end of flashback)
I wake up with an intense headache, holding the necklace in my hand. Then, I faint.
Despite the memory problems caused by the accident, everything seems to indicate that I will finally be okay.
I successfully finished school, and now I'm 18 years old. I am studying at the university.
One day, I send a message to one of my fellow students, Dante, asking for help with an assignment. He responds kindly, and during our conversation, he mentions some things that seem strangely familiar to me. Furthermore, his face looks familiar. Perhaps this is the beginning of a great friendship, or maybe something more.
But that's another story.
