“Assassin! Guards! Assassin! After them!” I sprinted through the courtyard, careful to avoid the oncoming guards coming out of the Manor. I quickly leapt into one of the large oak trees to conceal myself within its thick branches as my clansmen spread out into the courtyard. I took several deep breaths, focusing on pushing my energy down so I wouldn’t be detected. “Check everywhere! Every room, every corridor until they’re found!” My father commanded loudly as he walked out of the Main Hall with Cyprian, Falix and Ryo.

I peeked through the leaves to watch them. “She couldn’t have gotten far Sabir.” Cyprian said to my father who gave him a worried look before turning to look at the men. “Split up. Cyprian and I will check the far side of the Manor while Falix and Ryo search this side.” The men nodded in agreement. “If you find anything, alert us immediately. Remember, we can’t let anyone know her identity otherwise we won’t be able to protect her.” “Understood.”

They went in different directions as I spotted Soko rushing out of the hall with his betrothed close behind. I placed a hand over my mouth to stifle my cries, turning away to lean my back against the branch I was sitting on. I shouldn’t have come here. I should’ve listened but… I swallowed hard to push down my emotions before turning my head to look through the leaves at them.

I couldn’t hear what they were saying but his hands were on her arm in a comforting manner, making more tears escape my eyes. How could you do this to me Soko? How could you lie to me after everything we’ve gone through? I closed my eyes to take a deep breath. I need to get out of here. I waited until the guards moved far enough away before jumping down and running through the trees to the garden.

I quickly made my way into the garden, not stopping until I reached the garden wall separating the steep mountain cliff from the ridge. My heart shattered with every step I took. I placed my hands on the wall's cool surface, trying to breathe through the emotional war raging inside me. I should’ve known he was lying to me. I should’ve listened to Alastor and stayed in the Core. How could I be so foolish?

My tears splashed onto the surface of the wall. Why Soko? Why did you lie to me? I felt the air leaving my lungs as I let out a long sorrow filled cry into my hand. The force of my cry sent me onto one knee. I placed a shaky hand on my stomach. My touch was replied with a series of kicks. What am I going to do now? The Council has already deemed me the Demon Goddess… The bringer of death and destruction across the seven domains… I caressed my stomach as I looked out at the familiar sight of the sea.

What’s going to happen to my children? The stars shone brightly off the Dead Seas rough surface, lighting up like a million fireflies dancing in the fields of Lunar Valley. I closed my eyes and felt the breeze push the strands of loose hair from my face. I’ve missed this place. It feels like it's been a lifetime since I was here last. I slowly opened my eyes as the darkness in my core fought hard against my mind to escape.

I took long deep breaths to keep down the urge to release the pain inside me. This isn’t the time to get emotional. I have to find a way down the mountain before they catch me. I gazed at the beautiful view with a heavy heart. Is this the last time I’ll be able to come back home? “I never thought I’d ever see you again, my dear sister.” A voice behind me called out, causing me to jump to my feet and get into a defensive position.

I pulled out my dagger from its sheath with one hand while the other instinctively placed itself on my abdomen, raising my energy high enough to put off a threatening aura. I angled myself sideways to protect my stomach and raised my dagger towards the person behind me. My twin sister looked at me with her usual calm cold expression, making me freeze. Her posture was in its usual lady-like stance. Her hands folded in front of her with her back straight and her head held high.

Just how Mother taught us a Princess should present herself. She’s still the same as she always has been. That’s a relief. A smile spread across my face. “Allura?” I immediately dropped my hostile energy and my dagger to my side. I took a step towards her, checking our surroundings as I spoke. “What are you doing out here? It’s not safe for you to be out by yourself.” I resheathed my dagger and was about to walk over to her when I noticed something was off. Something’s wrong. Her aura is different somehow. As I took another step towards her, I saw it; A new darkness behind her eyes that wasn’t there before.

No, this isn’t Allura. She’s not the same loving sister I grew up with. These aren’t her eyes looking at me. These eyes are dark and vicious. This isn’t my sister. “Allura?” I felt her raise her energy at the sound of her name, like I had spoken threatening words. I also raised mine in response. The flow of our combined energy caused the flowers around us to fall from their stems and swirl around our feet. Why is she behaving this way? She’s never treated me like this before. What happened to her?

She took a step toward me and instinctively I took a step back. Her eyes wandered down my figure before stopping at my pregnant belly. Suddenly her aura turned violent, sending waves of cold energy whirling through the garden. She looked at me with hate burning in her eyes. “Soko doesn’t want you anymore. He has a new fiance. Heh. What perfect timing you have. Today’s their engagement party.”

The icy wind increased with her anger, throwing stray leaves and flowers around us. She took another step forward aiming her sights on my belly. “Allura, stop. Allura!” I tried to take another step back but my heel hit the wall. I looked back and realized I had backed myself into a corner with no escape. My only way out was to jump over the wall and fall onto the sharp rocks below.

Damn it. If Krohn or Alastor hears about this they will be so disappointed. They taught me to always be aware of my surroundings and never let my emotions cloud my judgment. I’m so stupid. I turned to look back at Allura who was now inches away from my face. Fear instantly flooded my body, making me try and move back. In my motion I lost my balance and tripped backwards over the short stone wall. I reached out to grab Alluras arm out of desperation and, to my surprise, she held my arms tightly.

I glanced down at the jagged cliff side and let out a sigh of relief. I knew she wouldn’t let me fall. Allura loves me just as much as I love her. No matter how mad she is at me, she'd never let anything bad happen to me. I looked back up at Allura as her eyes began to water. “I’m getting married soon.” Her voice cracked with anger. “What?” My heart pounded so hard against my chest I could hear it over the water hitting the rocks below us.

“That’s right. I’m getting married to Yuri in a few weeks thanks to you and your demon friends.” That’s not possible. Father is making her marry that disgusting playboy after everything that happened? Why would he do that to her? “I’m also pregnant.” My eyes widened with shock, sending bitter tears down her cheeks. “No…” I sobbed quietly as realization hit me. I reached up to caress her face but she sent a harsh gust of icy air to push me away, gripping my arm with rage to keep me from falling over the edge.

“This… Is all your fault…” She breathed. I shook my head sadly. “No… Allura…” She slapped me causing my lip to bleed before pulling me closer. “You did this to me Pandora! You made my life more miserable than death!” She slapped me again with a heavier hand before pulling me so close our noses touched. “Because of you I’m forced to carry your sins! Because of you… I’ll never get back my innocence…” She held back a cry, taking a deep shaky breath instead.

“Allura, please…” “No! I won’t listen to what you have to say. Nothing you say now can ever change what you did!” Allura screamed. “Why did you come back Pandora? After disappearing for two years without saying a word to me… After every terrible thing you did to the domains… After taking away the only person that made me happy… Now you show up? For what purpose?!” She let out an angry laugh before quickly changing her tone back.

“Do you enjoy tormenting me, huh? Is this fun for you? Did you come here to laugh at the fact I’m forced to marry someone I hate because of your mistakes?!” She paused for a moment, closing her eyes and she let out a soft whimper. “Why Pandora?” She glared at me as the energy around us rose again. “Why did you do this to me?!” I was so caught up in the situation, I didn’t notice Ryo, Haleth and a few guards running through the garden archway.

Allura scoffed as she released her grip slightly to let her hands slide down my arms to grasp my wrists. I let out a gasp as I looked over my shoulder at the black sea below me. “Pandora.” I turned back to see her eyes were now filled with sadness. “You’re my sister. I’ve always loved and trusted you in every decision you’ve ever made but…” She shook her head slightly. “I can never forgive you for what you’ve done.”

My heart sank at the weight of her words. I’ve done so many terrible things, made so many wrong choices in my pursuit to make our world a better place. I regret so much. I know what she has to do… What my choices are making her do. If this can bring my family peace, then I’m more than willing. I bit my lip as I nodded with a small smile.

“I’m sorry Star… For everything…” She let out a light sob before hesitantly releasing her grip on my arms, pushing a wave of energy toward me to continue my descent down the cliff. I watched helplessly as Ryo tried to jump after me only to be pulled back by Allura’s frost whip. I smiled as I saw Ryo and Haleth look down at me. This has to happen. If I die, the Loc will stop pushing the Council to invade Frost Valley. My clan, my domain, my family will finally be safe again.

I closed my eyes, putting my hand over my stomach to feel my children's kicks as I accepted my doomed fate. I regret so many things in this life but what I regret the most is not being able to give birth to you and watching you grow. I hope you won’t blame me in the afterlife. The last thing I heard before I crashed into the unforgiving sea was my name being called. I only felt the impact for a second before an icy feeling covered my body, making the pain of my broken bones and torn skin turn cold and numb.

I opened my eyes to watch myself sink into the water. My life flashed before my eyes as I swallowed sea water sending a fire raging in my lungs. I closed my eyes for the last time as darkness covered my vision. I'm sorry Sweets. I won’t be able to keep my promise. Please… Forgive me…
