Megan was a highly respected criminal defense lawyer in British Columbia. She had a loving husband, Collin, who owned the law firm where she worked, and two beautiful daughters, Olivia and Ella, aged seven and five. They lived in a grand house in a friendly neighborhood where everyone adored them. Life couldn't be better for Megan and her family.
However, fate had other plans for them. Collin had to travel to New York for a week to explore the possibility of starting a new partnership with a law firm there. Megan and the girls drove him to the airport, said their goodbyes, and watched him board the plane. Little did they know that it would be the last time they would see him alive.
Later that night, Megan turned on the TV and saw the news about Donald Trump. She laughed and shook her head, calling it fake news. Suddenly, the screen flashed with BREAKING NEWS in bold letters. Flight 789 to New York had crashed, and all 300 passengers on board were dead. Megan's heart sank as she realized that was the flight Collin was on.
The phone rang, and Megan's mother was on the other end. "Did you see the news?" she asked. "Yes, Mom. I don't know what to do. Maybe he got out?" Megan replied, her voice trembling with fear.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Megan told her mother to hold on and went to answer it. It was the police. "Mrs. Benson?" the officer asked. "Yes?" Megan replied, her heart pounding in her chest.
The officer took off his hat and said, "I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but your husband, Collin, was one of the bodies recovered in the crash." Megan dropped the phone and fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face. Her world had come crashing down around her, and she didn't know how she would go on without Collin, what about the girls and the firm? "Mom come here please" she cried to her mother on the phone "yes I'm on my way it took 10 minutes before her mother was running in the door she picked Megan up off the floor "now listen I know this is tough but you have to be strong for those girls" "I can't Megan replied "you can and you will, I'm here as long as you need me to be to help Megan" her mother reassured her. "I just don't know how I'm going to tell the girls?"
