In a completely different world, a huge planet where countless living beings and thousands of races lived, a small walled city called Argen is located in the northern hemisphere.

It was a fairly small metropolis, inhabited by approximately a thousand people, and most of them were already elderly, since the birth rate was low due to the poor economy.

Among them was a small family, where our protagonist, Kinori, was the youngest son whit 14 years old. He was rebellious and playful, since whenever he and his mother went to buy something, he distracted the shopkeepers by greeting them or waving at them. As the vendors were used to, from the moment they see the two approaching their store, they salute them saying, "Hello! How is my favorite little guy?"

The boy's appearance was unique in the village, he had straight and completely white hair, the skin was the same color but darker and also the eyes were light green.

That's why the villagers, when they first saw him, thought he was an elf or something, but the parents confirmed that he was just a normal human boy.

His family lived in a small house, which had 2 exterior doors, one that was in the small orchard where he always helped to collect the vegetables and fruits that came out, and another, which had a path that went straight and where they could see neighboring houses on their sides. As for the interior, it had a dining room, a kitchen, a small bathroom and her parents' room.

Kinori sleeps with his brother in the living room, where each night they prepare their purchased straw beds. As for his parents, they sleep in their room, it was small with a large bed and a window with a view of the orchard.

One of the things that Kinori loved to do the most was to visit Yuki, a monk, since he always told him stories about legendary samurai feats, something that excited him, he always dreamed of being a great samurai warrior. Sometimes the monk himself comes to visit them and always brings with him some homemade cookies that Kinori loved; they were round, sweet and crunchy.

Among his family was Zares, Kinori's older brother whit 22 years old. He was tall, with long straight black hair pulled back in a ponytail, and had slightly brown skin and black eyes.

He was already prepared for the next war. The warriors of the village were trained hard from the age of 12, so Zares already had 10 years of experience. Although he really could have already fought his first war at 19, he got a friendly war between Argen's soldiers instead. And Kinori was jealous of it, he was passionate about battles, and always dreamed of participating in one:

“How envious, you will be able to go to a war before me.”, Kinori said with a jealous face as he looked away, then turned his gaze to Zares. “And as skilled and strong as you are, you're sure to get promoted quickly in the ranks.”

The little boy was together with his brother going back home. The oldest dressed in samurai armor, since the time to leave for the war was drawing near, he also carried in his hand the shopping bag that his mother ordered, and Kinori carried a small bag with a few grams of flour. The oldest stopped to answer his little brother.

“Everything has its time dear brother.”, Zares replied smiling as he rested his right hand on his little brother's left shoulder. “Hey, look what I have for you.”, Then he put his right hand in his pocket wanting to take something out, and he put a cloth necklace on Kinori, which had the white part of the famous Yin and Yang amulet as an accessory, the black part was put on by him.

“That's cool, it's what we always wanted! Thank you very much.”, He said bowing.

“No problem.”, He said caressing Kinori's hair. “This necklace represents our dreams, because no matter what it costs, both of us will achieve it.”, The older brother continued smiling.

“But the Yin Yang does not really represent that, did you know brother?”, Kinori replied admiring his necklace.

“Hahahahaha, I know that you are very smart and you love legends, surely you know more than me.”, Answered the older brother putting his hand on the back of his hair. “But I want it to represent that feeling, okay? We'll both achieve our goals.”, Zares smiled.

“Will you promise me?”, Kinori said sticking out his little finger.

“I promise you.”, Zares replied , joining his little finger with his brother's.

They then continued on their way talking and smiling.

Upon arrival, at the entrance to the garden of the house, his father was waiting for him with a group of men in samurai armor on horseback.

His father was quite tall, with black hair and a typical samurai mustache, and brown skin. As for his attitude, it was as serious as his look, and he is considered one of the best samurai warriors in the village. His name is Etis.

“Zares, are you ready?”, Etis said seriously. “You are finally going to experience a real war. I hope you don't disappoint me. Say goodbye, it's time to go.”

Etis was always direct when speaking, using few words to express what he wants.

“Kinori, your next training is in a few hours, I want the trainer to inform me when I return from the war that you have done the right things.”, The father said looking at his little son.

“ Yes father.”, The two brothers answered seriously.

Then Zares said goodbye to Mizuki, his mother, giving her a big hug and she dedicated a few words to him:

“Remember son, better to die with honor than dishonored, never drop your weapon and never run away from a duel, even if you are not able to stand up, do not give up so easily. A true samurai shows no fear.” She prompted Zares as she loosely squeezed his shoulders with a glare in her eyes.

Mizuki was of medium height, had straight, long hair that was pure black like her eyes, was humble in character, and always had a firm smile. The village respected her for having a merciful look.

“Yes mother, I promise not to disappoint you.”, Zares answered seriously, then proceeded to say goodbye to his brother.

The older man knelt down to hug him, but Kinori's tears welled up.

“What's wrong little brother?”, Zares asked concerned.

Kinori looked at the brother, and his eyes did not stop shedding tears.

“Are you sure you won't die?”, Kinori asked.

“I was always by your side.”, He said putting his left hand on Kinori's right shoulder. “Do you remember what we promised each other a long time ago? We promised to live as long as possible together, in order to share our stories, and a promise is not broken.”, Zares replied wiping his little brother's tears, and smiling, he continued. “We will fulfill our dreams together, no matter what.”

He then got on his horse and smiled at his mother and Kinori. Then he, along with his father and his battle companions, left for the war zone. Each time they were not seen, the noise of the galloping of the horses and of the armors was heard less and less.

“Hey son!”, Mizuki said smiling. "Let´s go visit Yuki the monk, surely he has a new legend to tell you.

“Yuki? Yes! why not?”, The boy replied, recovering his spirits.

The mother smiled seeing him happy, so they went on their way to the monk's home. When they got home, the mother came in saying, “Excuse me, Yuki, it's us.”

The monk came out to greet them; hugged Kinori and greeted Mizuki. He was already an old man and lived alone in his humble house. His eyes were light gray, his head was missing quite a bit of hair, and his chin was hidden by a large gray beard.

“Come in, how are my favorite guests?”, Yuki invited with a smile. Then he saw that Kinori was a little sad. “Why such a bad face, mini-samurai?”, As the little boy loved the samurais and was excited about their legends, the monk gave him the nickname “mini-samurai”.

The boy looked worriedly at Yuki, and as he entered the room and settled down, he slowly explained why. Mizuki just stared happily as she drank the glass of tea the monk offered them.

“So your brother already went to war, huh?”, Yuki said.

“Yes, and I'm sure they'll win...”, Kinori said loosely squeezing the glass of tea the monk gave him, and then raised his head decisively. “He and my father are the best warriors in the village.”

“It's good to be hopeful.”, Yuki replied happily. “Well, today I will tell you a legend about Takeda Hideyoshi, a legendary shogun who defeated thousands of demons.”

The monk began to tell a legend, while Kinori looked at him with eyes of wonder and interest.

When the sun went down, Mizuki and Kinori went back to their home, the mother almost had to drag the little boy, he was exhausted. “Come on Kinori. How many times do I tell you not to do this to me honey?”, she said. Upon arrival, the boy threw himself on his parent's bed and the mother tucked him in.

“So today you want to sleep here, huh?”, Mizuki said as she tucked him in.

“ Yes, I don't want to sleep alone.”, Kinori answered with tired eyes.

Mizuki then sang him a lullaby to make him fall asleep. While the lullaby sounded, the child closed his eyes more and more until he fell asleep. And the mother, already carefree, lay down too, and fell asleep in a few minutes along with Kinori.
