A comet fell from space, gliding past the stars and leaving a trail of beautiful dust to pepper the sky. She stares out of the window in the dead of night. The comet strikes miles from her and creates a wave throwing buildings up into the air and the screams of sleeping and awoken people ricocheted past her as she was thrown up. Hair whipping against her bleeding face; her limbs dragging between the splintered wood and rubble soaring with her. But she never screamed. Never did she cry out.

The trees and buildings surrounding me sunk into the ground as I catapulted myself to the heavens. Touches of fire caressed my skin, reddening my already flushed flesh. I felt no pain at this moment; only the hollow feeling in my feet one might feel when excited or nervous. I was both of these things at the same time, a ball of nerves and anticipation.

Depleted of water and food her stomach felt like it was plotting a wild escape, she saw a small river in the east, praying to G-d that it wasn't a mirage. Her uncooperative limbs dragging behing her as she trailed toward the blue paradise, the feeling of refreshment in her mouth ready easing her, the promise of food even less.
