It wasn't hard to leave the phone at the kitchen counter last night. For Arrow it was the first night of non-disturbed sleep in the past two weeks. We don't want to talk about all the moments he was about to throw that thing into the next trash can or into the river he had to pass over every morning on his way to work. Some might question why since nowadays it's almost a part of your soul. You don't go without it for long, the only exception could be the toilet, not in all cases I know.
Let's get back to the why. There once was a Boy in love with a Girl...
Just kidding this isn't a Love Story, but for a while it was.
For a moment he was thinking about leaving the phone at home too, at least for today but he couldn't resist to take a short look on the screen, and this was his mistake. The for a night free mind got filled with the memories and things that were happening two weeks ago, they were still happening. She didn't stop calling or sending novel long texts to all his social media, even his workplace email address was filled with it.
But this time there wasn't a missed call, nor a text, just a notification about the long due update of an unused app. Without a word the phone ended up in the back pocket of his jeans and it kept remaining there until he got to the tall shiny Building. The one where he met her for the first time. The one where he went checking his reflection before meeting her on their first date.
Remembering the first date he started to wonder why things turned out that way, but as bitchy as life is, there was no chance to finish that thought. The soft hand on his shoulder brought all his mind back in one blink. Her voice danced along his neck up to his ear, making a light shiver covering his spine. And if you think it's the shivering you feel out of excitement, you're absolutely wrong. It was a feeling of fear followed by the wish to run but knowing you can't move like in one of those stupid nightmares.
She was gone and he ended up in the old leather chair next to his desk that was already filled with documents and files. All the undone work of the last days was waiting right where he left it the night before. Today that chair felt unknowingly comfortable but that feeling changed when he noticed that his phone was gone. He didn't put it somewhere else while entering the building or looking for his stuff down in his backpack.
.... to be continued...
