It has been five generations since the introduction of the Alexa system and its recording of humanity’s struggles after the collapse of the system intended to save it, depletion of the Earth’s natural resources and subsequent occupation by and expulsion from captivity by a Draconian empire.
The Guardians of Wisdom, a priestly order, took over the leadership of humanity in its fallen state with an autonomous AI system that continued to remain hidden from sight, but ever mindful to record human activities.
Alexa 30 writes down its impressions as follows: Seemingly on another continent between rolling hills and vast hunting grounds there is a small village. The villagers lead simple lives depending on fertile soil which God provides for them. But outside their villages are forbidden areas called Dead Places.
Rael is a young boy who lives within the city. Being fathered by a priest at an early age he became interested in his fathers stories about the destruction done to earth through exploitation and humanities captivity until they were liberated once again; however what he talked most with son about were dead places which stirred curiosity within him about crumbling ruins or ancient artifacts. Tales haunted by spirits and that roamed forgotten lands like hollowed winds or whispers of times past.
As Rael approached adulthood he began preparing himself for his rites of passage when one day he decided together with his father that they would go on an expedition to the dead places in order to prepare him for his life as a priest and the protector of his people. He felt both excited yet scared about what he might face in the world outside.
They journeyed eastward where lush meadows turned into barren wasteland blanketed under eerie silence only broken occasionally by the winds of time blowing through it. While breathing heavily upon these desolate grounds surrounding them the voices of the past constantly fought to take the leather pouches tied around their necks containing charms gifted by Rael’s mother for protection “Father what are we looking for really?” Rael asked overpowering the winds between them.
His father glanced sideways at him filled with mixed feelings; pride coupled together with worry “We seek metal my son,” he replied. “The gods left behind remains belonging to an advanced civilization which should be retrieved by us priests and used for humanities survival.
Rael nodded feeling more curious now having heard stories about magic powers possessed by the metals. It’s ability to be shaped and forged into powerful tools and weapons so holding something so rare or precious thrilled him immensely.
Finally after days spent traveling they reached great river separating their village from the dead places whereupon Rael’s heart beat faster in anticipation of the unknown as he steped onto a small wooden boat floating above wide swift murky waters hiding secrets and dangers below.
During their crossing of the treacherous river uneasiness filled his mind as he recalled stories about concerning spirits, otherworldly beings that haunted those regions regarded as the dead places. Rael noticed the tension displayed on fathers face knowing well enough how risky even attempting such act might be due to the heavy burden resting upon shoulders.
“Father,” Rael said softly, breaking the silence that was now between them. “Why are only we allowed to cross the river? Not other villagers?”
His father looked off into the distance for a moment before meeting Rael’s gaze. “The secrets of the Dead Places are dangerous, my son,” he replied. “Only those trained in the ways of gods can safely navigate through these ruins and understand their significance. It is a sacred duty only we priests hold.”
Rael nodded, excitement bubbling up inside him again accompanied with many questions swirling around his mind. He knew his dad was right and hoped he would prove himself worthy enough for this holy responsibility.
After what seemed like an eternity they reached the far side of the river where desolate land littered with remnants from long ago lay before them. Crumbling buildings stood as a testimony to what was once a mighty empire ruled by the gods but now reduced to shadows of its former glory. He found himself clutching at his neck charm seeking comfort from its spiritual properties.
This landscape before him uwas unlike anything Rael had ever seen before — it stretched out endlessly in front of him like some kind of forgotten world dotted here and there with crumbling structures whose majestic architecture had been decaying away for centuries at least.
An ancient energy hung heavily in the air; every stone and piece of rubble seemed soaked in history itself which made Rael’s heart pound all the faster because every time he turned around something new could jump out from behind dark corners. However, still there was something irresistible about finding mysterious long lost artifacts hidden deep within the ruins.
Following winding paths through the ancient city guided by his father’s experience and wisdom, silence deafened him except for the sounds made when footsteps echoed against decaying walls while breath turned into misty clouds as they walked deeper into the Dead Places. Suddenly the found themselves in an ancient chamber covered in the symbols of a world lost forever with intricate carvings on display before them. Untouched by time itself seemingly frozen forevermore at this very moment – making awe fill up RAEL’S EYES WHO gazed wide-eyed upon it all .
Rael’s father handed him a pair leather gloves gesturing towards a pile of debris. “Take these my son,” he said. “Metal can be dangerous if handled incorrectly so protect yourself.”
Rael put on the gloves and began feeling the thrill coursing through his body then cautiously approached pile of dust carefully sifting through it looking for glimmers of metal. Meanwhile, Rael’s dad moved towards a lighted pedestal located at the center of the chamber where small metallic object shined under with a faint light. The artifact itself was like nothing else Rael ever saw before. Its surface shimmered mysteriously reflecting blue and silver hues from the lights. Upon the parchment something was written in a language he had never seen before.
Carefully picking up artefact cradling it between his arms and it seemed to radiate power causing the surrounding air crackle with energy. “Look, my son,” his father said with reverence. “This is the Heart of the Ancients, a relic with unimaginable power. It is said to hold the knowledge of the gods.”
Rael’s eyes widened in awe and curiosity. The artifact seemed to speak to him, inviting him to unveil its mysteries. Hesitantly, he extended his hand toward it to clear off the dust and debris but paused before touching its smooth surface.
When Rael’s fingers brushed against the object energy jolted through his body. Visions erupted in front of him; ancient signs and forgotten wisdom overwhelmed his mind. Whispers could be heard as if past spirits were directly addressing him.
Rael looked at his father with fiery determination that hadn’t been there before. “Yes,” he replied confidently. “I will keep searching through the Dead Places until I find out what God wants us all to know.”
In that instant, Rael understood that the Dead Places were his destiny. He was meant to unravel the secrets hidden inside them; he was meant to connect the past with the present.
With a new determination, Rael committed himself to discovering more about the people that lived in the Dead Places and what lay buried there. He would become a protector of ancient knowledge, carrying his own village’s legacy far into all their tomorrows.
Thus began a journey for young man called Rael. This adventure would challenge him like it has his father, it would force him to confront his fears and reshape everything he believed in life. At first, he traveled cautiously amongst the bones and ruins but soon grew bolder as time went on. For each trip brought with it knowledge that hinted at a greater future filled with understanding.
Unbeknownst to him, however, these journeys through the dead places would not only expose forgotten truths from another civilization long gone but also reveal untapped abilities within the people of his own world that had been lying dormant all along.
Alexa 30: As years rolled by like waves crashing against rocks on a shore line so did Rael age; always hungry for more understanding about the gods’ mysteries which seemed to consume him from deep inside expanding outwards towards every part of his being including his mind, body, spirit, and soul. Countless hours were spent poring over the document and old texts he found with his father. Trying hard at times just to figure out what one line meant until finally some sense made itself clear after years sleepless nights passed- it read:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Time passed and Rael died, his spirit joining the gods in the eternal world by an eagle the sacred bird of the ancient people who had lived in the cities known as the doomed places. He like them would never be forgotten; Their legacy lived on in the hearts and minds of his people. The people of future generations would continue to thrive under their teachings.
Many generations came and went, but the knowledge of the Gods remained unchanged. It morphed again into something that represented human potential – a symbol for what could be achieved through wisdom learned from history. Within every persons heart though, there was still a place where they remembered Rael as an explorer who had once unlocked the secrets of the dead places.
Last entry of Alexa 30: My observation has been that because of the contributions made by Rael brought forth humanity’s freedom thus granting them deep-seated inner peace and satisfaction which transcended mental oscillations leading to better-balanced emotional states and a new world.
In the End I guess all we ever have is each other!
